In the wake of recent data scandals, consumers now expect to know exactly why their data is needed and what it’s going to be used for.  Legal codifications (like GDPR and CCPA) are an essential part of this process.  Shifting the balance of power from brands back to consumers will be a positive in the long run. Compliance may be tough, given the siloed data management practices present in many businesses.  It’s important…

Towards LGPD and Beyond – You’ve Gotta Have a Plan! – Validity Blog – Email Marketing Article

As the GDPR deadline of May 25th, 2018 approached, one of the biggest mistakes many European senders made was to leave everything to the last moment. How SME’s Can Prepare For Brexit – Email Marketing Article

Excuse me for getting personal, but Brexit, for me, is rather like waiting for my daughter to leave home. We didn’t particularly want it to happen. However, it was obvious that it would come about eventually. There were a lot of false starts. At the time of writing it seems probable that the election is the start of the final countdown. We can’t be precise as to the form Brexit will take, so it is risky to give advice, but…

The Current State of GDPR Compliance in Marketing – B2B Marketing Article

We’re nearly 18 months removed from the implementation of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). After all of the panic leading up to GDPR enforcement, we can safely say that the marketing world has not grinded to a halt due to compliance challenges. We should look upon them as a valuable asset.  It is almost as if the ICO doesn’t want a lot of bother. It’s the easy life for them, and if they don’t have to indulge in expensive litigation, the happier they will be. Their intent seems to be to make…
